>Entry #12: In the Stars. (Part 5)
Home is where the heart is. Where those who love each other can come together in peace and acceptance.
Sylus Synclaire is a father.
a lover
an outcast
a tentacle monster born of the rotting remains of a dead eldritch god.
If he had his way, he’d love nothing more than to use his powers to bring peace to himself and his family. But no. He has to “defend all mortal kind” against “The Void”.
How is any of this his problem? Well, it might have something to do with the dead god he shares his body with. Or maybe the living god that is enamored by his very existence?
Can, no, will Sylus step up to defend the world? Or will he sit back and watch as that which cast him aside burns to the ground?
PLEASE NOTE:
The web series is no longer in progress. Instead I have diverted all of my intention into rewriting it into a more manageable and less meandering book! Feel free to read what I have here, but please understand that this is being logged as an archive of the story.
I apologize to anyone who was invested in this version, but I wrote myself into a corner and I was struggling to see a way out.
The book aims to combine attributes from both this version and the original 2018 version with a far clearer plot path (failure of the 2018 version) and my less meandering (failure of this version).
If you’re interested in the novel version I’m currently working on, you can find me on Twitter and Instagram posting almost daily updates: @theqtaxians
Thank you to everyone who has been with me through this process!
An all-metal pen? What's that like?
A focus-oriented writing program? Yes please!
Hydrophobic paper anyone?
A practical little note-keeping app!
Home is where the heart is. Where those who love each other can come together in peace and acceptance.
Aria works her magic and sets Sylus on the road to recovery. But can he sit still long enough?
Desperation and despair. What hope could be found in such dark times?
Parting may be sweet sorrow, but returning can be a hell all its own.
Change is coming.
You best be ready for it.
After the torment of the Dream, Sylus is finally ready to begin his new life. Though many obstacles yet lie ahead, the first is finding his way back home which lies on the other side of the perilous Void.
What’s real?
What’s a dream?
Can Sylus tell the difference before it’s too late?
Sylus is ready to meet his fate at the end of his journey, but Qaitax insists he understands Saari’s life a bit more.
Jeron & Daniel remain trapped in a bomb shelter. The second they step outside, they learn how dangerous the world has become.
Sylus stands face-to-face with Qaitax. The time has come, but a new obstacle arises. Saari, Qaitax’s ward, is suddenly introduced to the plan. Can Sylus find common ground with the immortal Void Witch?
Henley was never as he seemed.
Doubt is cast over Qaitax.
Both the truth & Sylus’ sanity are unraveling. Is the price he must pay to protect his family too great? Will doubt and fear win out?
Sylus struggles to come to terms with himself and his future.
Qaitax pleads his case to an unsympathetic crowd. Jeron and Daniel struggle to accept the Voidlord’s intentions.
All the while, Henley is waiting.
Everything is coming apart. The worst anyone could imagine has finally occurred. What happens from this point on, will shape the course of mortal existence for the rest of eternity. It’s time a decision was made.
Sylus and Jeron finally have some personal time together. It isn’t all sunshine and roses, but they wouldn’t have it any other way. All the while, the symptoms of Qaitax’s gift to Sylus intensifies.
The voice that’s haunted Sylus’ mind and dreams has a name. Qaitax needs Sylus’ help to escape his ancient prison, but he’s no fool to the whims of mortals. Something must be given for something to be gained.
Sylus is nearly dragged to his death by the haunting call of the Void. As his family springs to his aid, an unlikely being saves him from self destruction. Fear cannot win.
“Prepare to be sanitized.” Meet Sylus Synclaire, his family, his friends, the voice in his head, and the warped world he lives in. “Welcome to the Riftworks. For the protection and preservation of humanity.”
